Make sure to do some research on car rental rates when traveling. These rates tend to fluctuate more than those of airlines, but they don’t require money down until you are at the counter. Make a reservation and keep tabs on the rates to make sure they don’t drop. If they do, make a new reservation at the lower price to save money.
When flying, never assume that the airline will tend to your every need, even on lengthy flights. If you really need headphones, a blanket and a pillow to be comfortable while flying, you should bring your own on board with you. You should also bring enough snacks to get you to your destination and not have to rely on airport food. Taking back-up copies of your vital documents is always a good idea when you travel. Keep the copies of your insurance, passport, and other documents in a safe location while you carry the originals along with you. Leaving another set of copies at home with a family member or friend you trust is wise too, just in case you lose everything you’re traveling with. When you are planning on bringing small children along for a car trip and are using a rental car, make sure you pack their car seats. To be safe, bring your own car seats with you.
